Create more momentum and balance through movement
Sweating was a big part of my life growing up. My daily runs gave me an incredible endorphin kick that always boosted my confidence. Running + Sweating was a combo that I couldn’t live without. I got addicted early on and used my athletic body to compete in 60 meters and 800 meters’ relays. Running always gave me a level of high that I couldn’t live without. It both fueled, inspired and grounded me. Exercising became a part of me, it was never a conversation about will I exercise, rather, when it was a part of my daily schedule.
One day, after years of running I pulled a muscle in my calf. I quickly realized that my full immersion style without proper re-balancing, re-alignment and restoration in between my intense runs was over. The doctor wanted me to wear a boot for 6 weeks. It lasted for 6H. Instead of rest and physical therapy, I became addicted to Vinaysa Flow.
Yoga shifted my athletic state to a new a place, harmony. Even though the yoga mat brought me challenges, I developed new tools and ultimately became more comfortable in my body. Yoga also gave me a set of life tools that made me handle life better. With a newfound inner strength and awareness, I shifted my perspective and embraced my imperfections.
To blend the two worlds of full immersion of impactful exercise with a practice of inner emotional and physical strength makes me feel high and grounded at the same time. By the end of my practice, I feel I have achieved the same thing that I was running after in my formidable years. Workouts now match my beliefs; I am strong, I am confident, I live AMP’d!
